What is Seachem Alkaline Buffer?

Seachem Alkaline Buffer is a non-phosphate buffer designed to raise pH and alkalinity (KH) in freshwater aquariums. This buffer, along with Seachem Acid Buffer, is best used in planted or hard water aquariums where alternative phosphate buffers may cause an outbreak of algae or cloudy water.

When dosed correctly, this buffer can raise pH to values between 7.2 and 8.5. It’s a completely fish-and-plant-safe additive that’s proven to enhance freshwater environments.

How do I use Seachem Alkaline Buffer?

To raise pH in your aquarium, add 1 teaspoon (7g) of Seachem Alkaline Buffer for every 80L of water. Do this daily until your desired pH is reached. Larger doses may be required in soft water aquariums with low pH levels.

Changing pH levels too rapidly may impact the health of your aquarium’s inhabitants. In order to adjust pH gradually, use Seachem Alkaline Buffer in conjunction with Seachem Acid Buffer to target a specific pH.
