Seachem Acid Buffer is a non-phosphate buffer designed to lower pH in freshwater aquariums. This buffer, along with Seachem Alkaline Buffer, is best used in planted or hard water aquariums where alternative phosphate buffers may cause an outbreak of algae or cloudy water.
When dosed correctly, this buffer can lower pH to values between 5.0 and 8.0. It works by converting alkalinity (KH) into CO2, which can then be readily absorbed by your plants and used to photosynthesise and grow.
To lower pH in your aquarium, add 1/4 teaspoon (2g) of buffer for every 80L of water. Do this daily until your desired pH is reached. Larger doses may be required in hard water aquariums with high pH levels.
Changing pH levels too rapidly may impact the health of your aquarium’s inhabitants. In order to adjust pH gradually, use Seachem Acid Buffer in conjunction with Seachem Alkaline Buffer to target a specific pH.
